Parallel Dreams

When I was asleep I had a dream
Looked more to me like a movie scene
Motion pictures playing over and over
Always had front row seats so I didn't stretch over.

While I was awake I had a dream
Goals realer to me than reality
Ideas in my head played over and over
My thoughts were never far fetched so I didn't stretch over.

Must have been turning side and side when I had a dream.
The pitch darkness and blurry sights made me very weary
Falling from the path I followed; fear of failing tripped me
But notwithstanding I held on by ropes unknown to me

Must have been turning left and right when I had this dream.
Pitched my jaw inside my palm cos of thoughts of worry.
What if I failed, were these thoughts, I fell to fear so nearly.
But notwithstanding I held on to hopes unknown to me.

I lay unconscious of time when I had a dream
All the wonderful things I craved were in front of me
Food so much more than even I could eat
Going to all the places that I love to be

Conscious of time ticking on I had a this dream.
Won't wait till I'm 40, to have it in front of me
Folks say it's impossible when I tell them cos they can't see
Going through all these phases is just training me.

It was deep within the night when I had this dream.
But woke up in the morning to find that it was all a dream.
What of the dreams that I had when wide awake
Will wake up one day to proclaim that I'm living the dream.
